Trojan War Epic "Les Troyens" To Air Live in HD at the Clark

(Media-Newswire.com) - Williamstown, MA—On Saturday, January 5 at 12 pm, the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute presents Les Troyens, a production of The Met: Live in HD. Tickets are $25 ( $22 members; $18 students ) and may be ordered online or by calling 413 458 0MET ( 458 0638 ). Approximate running time is 300 minutes.
Francesca Zambello’s acclaimed production of Hector Berlioz’s vast Trojan War epic was last performed at the Met in 2003. Fabio Luisi conducts a cast led by Marcello Giordani in the central role of Aeneas, the hero who flees the ruins of Troy for a new set of challenges in the North African kingdom of Carthage. Deborah Voigt reprises the role of the cursed Trojan prophetess Cassandra, which she sang in the new production premiere, and Susan Graham makes her Met role debut as Dido, the noble but heartbroken Queen of Carthage.
The Met: Live in HD is a series of live opera performances transmitted in high-definition video via satellite from the Metropolitan Opera in New York City to selected venues in the United States and around the world.
