Entomological Society of America Investigates International ACE certification program
The Entomological Society of America recently announced the development of an exploratory committee to investigate the feasibility of adapting its popular Associate Certified Entomologist (ACE) program for an international audience.
(Media-Newswire.com) - The Entomological Society of America ( ESA ) recently announced the development of an exploratory committee to investigate the feasibility of adapting its popular Associate Certified Entomologist ( ACE ) program for an international audience.
A committee of 14 members that encompasses the functional breadth and geographic width of structural pest control has been established, to be chaired by LTC Mustapha Debboun, PhD, BCE. The group will continue work that was started by an informal working group that first met during the National Pest Management Association’s ( NPMA ) PestWorld 2013 Annual Meeting in Phoenix, AZ.
Members of the committee include:
Dr. Mustapha Debboun, BCE ( Chair ); US Army ( Texas, USA ) Mr. Patrick T. Copps, BCE; Rollins ( California, USA ) Mr. Forrest E. St. Aubin, BCE-Emeritus; Consultant ( Kansas, USA ) Dr. James G. Fredericks, BCE; NPMA ( Virginia, USA ) Dr. Zia Siddiqi, BCE; Rollins ( Georgia, USA ) Mr. William H Melville, ACE; Consultant ( Ontario, CA ) Mr. Naresh Duggal, BCE ; Santa Clara County ( California, USA ) Mr. Dinesh Ramachandran; National Pest Control ( Dubai, UAE ) Mr. Dominique Sauvage; Clark Pest Control ( California, USA ) Mr. Viren Merchant; Pest Control Associates ( Mumbai, India ) Mr. David Alcock; Alcock’s Entomological Services ( Durban, S. Africa ) Mr. Michel Bayoud; Boecker Public Health ( Beirut, Lebanon ) Mr. Hani Shehadeh; Ecovar ( Dubai, UAE ) Mr. Christopher John Stelzig; ESA ( Maryland, USA )
The ACE program was started by the ESA in 2004, and has grown rapidly since that time with more than 760 ACEs as of the end of 2013.
“We’re delighted that this program is going to be available soon to an international audience,” said Chris Stelzig, ESA’s Director of Certification. “The rapid growth that we have seen domestically in our ACE program -- over 35% average annual growth -- is a strong indicator that the market is hungry for professional training and credentialing.”
In September 2013, ESA and the NPMA established a partnership to grow the domestic U.S. ACE program and to investigate the expansion of the program to an international market. Though no timetable for the launch of the new ACE-Pest Control international ( ACE-PCi ) has yet been announced, Stelzig expressed optimism that it will be available “sooner rather than later.”
